The (new) 3rd District

Under a city law approved in 2019 by voters, redistricting in Syracuse is now overseen by a non-partisan citizen commission.  November 2023 will mark the first General Election using the new Common Council districts.

The new Third Council District includes several neighborhoods including University Hill, SU/ESF Campus, Southeast University, Westcott, Meadowbrook, Outer Comstock, and Lafayette Road.  This portion of the city contains parts of the Old 15th Ward, Crouse and Upstate Hospitals, the VA, the Marshall St and Westcott St commercial areas, and a significant number of residential areas.
